OK, a police station, fine, we’ll give you that one. But what kind of Matchbox Adventures are we supposed to have at a car wash or a garage?

We’re not telling you which Matchbox Adventure Set to choose. They all include one car, and don’t require a lot of assembly hassle or batteries before you can start the adventure.

Now, all you have to ask yourself is: what’s so fun about a garage or a car wash? The classic 1976 comedy notwithstanding, our trips to the car wash have always inspired one thought: “Am I done with this crap yet so I can get on with my life?” Likewise, the only excitement we associate with a garage involves either highway robbery (by unscrupulous mechanics) or armed robbery (by unscrupulous criminals). Doesn’t seem like the kind of adventure Matchbox would want soiling their good name. If this was a parking garage, maybe we could get a Watergate thing going. But no, it’s just a regular old filling station.

In the adventure stakes, that pretty much leaves the police station. Again, we’re not telling you which one of these sets to choose. And, of course, you could buy all three. But if your kid winds up with the garage or the car wash, you’d better include a backstory about an ancient burial ground. Or an alien conspiracy. Or something.
