Once a story is told, you can't take it back. Once these vinyl stickers are placed on the lamp, they're not re-applicable. How do you make that work? Easy. A rough draft.

Your child loves the stories you tell, but holds you to a very high standard. If you said "Wait, no, the princess actually went to the woodsman's hut instead of to the castle, let's rewind, okay?" they'd sigh and shake their head at your inability to please them. So when you say "We can only do this once, and it has to be right!" they'll understand. Really. They will.

And when you're done, you'll have a lovely wall light that has a well-considered story behind it. Maybe it'll be a tiny zoo where every animal has a name. Maybe it'll be a koala bear that reminds them of your terrible-yet-funny Australian accent. Maybe it'll be a stylish Metro Lamppost that leads them into their own personal imaginary city. Maybe you can mix 'em all up and make something else.

Whatever you make, though, it's gonna stay that way. So take a few moments and consider what you and your child want. You're making a memory here, you know. It can't be something you rush.
