We all return to the drawer from whence we came, Maureen.

“They keep saying it on the news, but I don’t want to believe them! There’s a chance it won’t happen, right, Ian? We could still be safe here. The rest of the world might be on the brink of disaster but it might not reach us here in our KidKraft City Set and Train Table, right?”

I…I don’t know what to tell you, Maureen. I wish I had the right words for this moment. I wish I could make everything better. But I don’t see that happening.

“This can’t be happening. This is the sort of thing you see in the movies. This doesn’t happen in real life.”

I’m afraid it is happening. Giant hands have already started disassembling the Which Way Junction and all the Extra Wooden Railroad Track around the city. It seems soon they’ll come for us, and then…

“And then, what? What happens then, Ian?! That’s the worst part of all this! Not knowing what lies beyond that horizon! It’s driving me mad!”

I…we…we just don’t KNOW, Maureen! There’s no coming back from the drawers! Now I’d like to believe you and I will continue on together once we’re cleaned up and stored in those storage drawers, together and free from the burdens of our composite wood world, but there’s just too much evidence pointing me in the other direction!

“I believe, Ian. I believe in you. And I believe in us. And the alternative is too horrible to consider so I choose to believe in a happy ending. For us all.”
