Under The Sun
Tim and Michelle stood in the hot driveway and stared at the car, "How long?" she asked him. "How long has it been in there?"
Tim wiped the sweat from his face and gave a reluctant shrug. "Four hours," he answered. "I think. Maybe five." Then he winced as he heard Michelle's palm smack against her forehead.
"You know, I was hoping to take that Itzy Ritzy Medium Wet Bag on vacation with us. When Amanda told me about it, I thought it would be such a great way to store our wet clothes after we all went to the beach."
"Yeah."
"And with Jake and Olivia getting older, I thought they could use it for getting their sweaty sports clothes home. All they'd have to do is throw their uniforms into the thick and soft BPA-Free, PVC-Free lined bag, and I'd just pour it into the washer."
Tim snorted. "Heh. Olivia and Jake interested in sports. That's..." Michelle's raised eyebrow stopped him from finishing. He didn't even have to see it. He could feel it. "Yeah, that's a great idea, honey."
Michelle sighed, then continued. "All I'm trying to say is that it's a pretty handy thing to have, obviously. If you hadn't had it available to you when Ella had her little blow-out, you wouldn't have had any place to put her soiled clothes, would you?"
"I guess not, no."
"So it boggles my mind, Tim, that after experiencing the convenience of the Itzy Ritzy Medium Wet Bag for yourself, that you not only forgot to tell me about Ella's accident, but that you forgot to bring the bag inside on a day when the temperature was... wait, let's get the official report." Michelle pulled out her smartphone and launched her weather app. "Oh look, it's been 104 degrees for most of the day. Splendid. I hope for your sake those sealed seams and the lead-free zipper closure has kept the smell contained like it's supposed to."
Michelle watched as her husband's head sank lower. She slipped her arms around him and gave him a squeeze. "You know, I think we still have that gas mask your buddies gave you as a joke before Olivia was born. Why don't you go look for that while I search the house for any spare air fresheners?"
