Promises, Promises
Well heck yeah, this Buzz Lightyear Night Vision Glove looks awesome. That’s because it IS awesome, my little friends. It’s got infrared night vision on your arm instead of your eyes! Laser sound effects! A built-in Special Mission Flashlight, which is like an ordinary flash light but for special missions that deserve capital letters! How could you not want this?
But you can’t just go stomping around the house declaring yourself Protector Of The Star Cookies, you know. If you’re going to be a member of Star Command, you’ve got to act in a way that reflects their heroism and commitment to being awesome.
For instance, though you might feel pretty powerful wearing the glove on your arm, don’t go punching things with it. Like, say, your siblings, for example. That’s just bad form. Try to pick fights only with imaginary horrors from beyond the darkness of space.
Always remember to be polite when asking your parents for more batteries. The glove only runs four hours on four AAs, so they might be running to the store a lot. Unless you plan on getting a space job with a space paycheck so you can pay for your own batteries in the near space future, don’t go bugging them all the time. Space heroes aren’t whiners. Unless you’re a Jedi, of course.
Respect your bedtime. Sure, it’d be easy to turn on your glove and navigate through the dark house using the infrared lights and 1.4-inch TFT display to the fridge where all the leftover cake is. If you get caught, though, there’s a good chance Mom and Dad are going to toss the thing into the black hole of “You’ll Play With It When We Say You Can Play With It.”
Pointing the glove at your scary aunt and yelling “SHE’S GONNA EAT US! BLAST HER!” and then laying on the laser sound effect button is right out, kiddo. She is not, in fact, a monster or demon in human form no matter what your father says about her.
And one last thing: No matter what kind of noise you hear coming from your parents room, even if it sounds like aliens may be eating their faces off, DO NOT use your Buzz Lightyear Night Vision Glove to go investigate. Trust me on this. Some things are better left unseen.
