Try living in one.

Almost everyone loves to read comic books or watch the terrible movie adaptations and imagine how great it would be to be a super-powered lunatic either saving or pillaging the world. No one really fantasizes about going about their normal, grinding existence in a world in which super-beings exist.

Think about living in the city represented by this Incredible Hulk Smash Game. Seems like a decent place, right? Some unique architecture, lots of landscaping, it might not be bad at all. You could drive your little clay plane or tank around town on your way to Trader Joe’s when BLAM! A giant green monster smashes the crap out of everything.

You think State Farm’s going to cover THAT? It took them six weeks to call me back that time I hit a deer.

And that’s just what people in the comic book universe call “Tuesday.” Assuming you ever make it to work in one piece you run the risk of alien attacks, deadly symbiotic costume infestations, horrific clown-themed explosives planted in your building, and the occasional good-guy-gone-bad raining down a storm of angry fists, fireballs, and witty one-liners on your face.

Imagine the poor Zoning Commissioner! Every other large-scale commercial lot is reduced to a smoldering crater. What’s the tax rate like when once a month the entire infrastructure has to be rebuilt from the ground up? This Hulk Smash Game might give you the thrill of smashing, but it doesn’t teach you the exasperated resignation that comes with rebuilding your city every other week. Come to think of it, there aren’t many games at all that promise “exasperated resignation.”

Except Monopoly. You know you’re in for a loooooong night when someone breaks out Monopoly.
