If these are anything like I remember, The hinges are quite fragile and aren't really built to last.

The supplies on the other hand are superb and a great value. Great for letting little ones dip their toes in the art world.

Bought a set like this for a girlfriend once for Christmas. She wanted to start expressing herself creatively. Most of the items inside were super cheap and crappy. She didn't enjoy it. A good artist would be able to make something cool with this stuff, but would tell you they are crap quality. A bad artist would make something sucky and blame the tools (and be half right)

The target demo is 9 year olds ;) so it works well as something to play with.

Teens and older you're better off getting some student quality or better supplies. Or just a gift card to Michaels or cornucopia Blick.
