I'm gonna spotlight this review from a previous Wooter.

LEM- wrote:Bought one of these last time around for my 5 yr. old.

A few quick insights:

1. Assembly/setup very easy.

2. The table is very solid and can sustain some abuse.

3. Lego base works great with both included and original lego pieces.

4. Lego "compatible" pieces are not as nicely build as the original legos, I guess they are made of material that is a bit tougher or are not as accurately measured, so it is somewhat a challenge to connect/disconnect some pieces (while others work fine). But that said, they do work with original Lego: kids mixed them up already and use all.

5. The train tracks are again a little bit lesser quality than Thomas (I had to file one of the pieces a bit before the connection fit), but they are compatible with original Thomas tracks: you can kind of see the "switch" when move from one to another - but they do connect and the trains can easily move between them.

6. The train works very well with original Thomas train pieces.

7. Overall the table itself is more useful for the Lego than for train set, because if you have any tracks other than included, the assembly won't fit on it, but you can do several Lego projects at a time on it.

8. Kids love it (both 5 yr old and 9 yr old play with it!)

9. All in all a good buy. Even though some pieces build quality is a bit lesser - you can't beat the price. You get all three: A table, a "Lego" set and a train set for just a bit more than the store price of any one "original" component.

I got this for my grandson about 18 months ago. He uses it constantly and plays hard on it but it's held up great. It's been more than worth the $$.

I highly recommend it and will be getting the next size up when the time comes.

PROS
• Cute & sturdy
• Really good value
• Easy to assemble
• Versatile play opportunities beyond Lego/train play

CONS
• Quite small; my (tall) 3yo grandson will soon be ready for a taller model
• Difficult to access storage area during play

TIPS
• Seal the printed landscape side 'cause it can't stand up to wet things like Playdoh, paint and lunch without a tray or good quality sealer
• Get a package of SureTrack clips so you can lift the track in & out of the storage space fully assembled
http://www.happyhentoys.com/st00001.html
• You CAN get a larger more versatile track layout with the short radius (3 1/4") curves & switches
• Sterilite makes a storage bin with a secure latched top that fits beautifully inside the storage compartment. If you fill it with things like rice/lentils/cornmeal you have an indoor sandbox. If you don't want to leave in it the compartment you can lift it out and store it in the space under the table.

I concur with everything you said. We bought ours a year and a half ago for our then 3 yr old grandson. He still enjoys playing with it as does his younger sister (who, thankfully, does not feel compelled to put Legos in her mouth or nose).

Regular Lego-sized, no Duplo-sized.

The blocks that come with it are the conventional size but Duplo size works on that grid just as well.
