I'd think so, the bars are 2 1/2" apart so they won't squeeze through.

I love mine, got it from woot a while back and it's holding up fine and looks great.

I can't get the above link to open for some reason but when I looked this up on amazon it had lots of great reviews. In fact, they sold out last time I tried to buy them on Woot and I wound up getting much crappier gates for more money from Walmart and I'm still mad at myself about it lol!

It's kind of hard to tell about the other version on AMZ, there are lots of Summer Infant products, the link above is the only one that seems to be an exact match.

The 2 star review seems to mostly relate to trying to attached it to a banister with tie-wraps rather than screwing it in.

It should be compatible with puppies. My sister used to use one with her puppies. Now she still has it and is just trying to find micro teacup puppies for sale. She mentioned http://lepetiteteacupboutique.com if anyone is interested.
