Sadly I'm not the one to get my daughter her costume. My mom takes care of my little 8 year old.

Party City

Just like every year my wife got a pattern and is making the costume. My kid has been many things that you might see on PBS kids or Nick Jr. Again this year she will be a dinosaur from Dinosaur train. That girl loves Dinosaurs.

Tried to make a costume for him, and failed miserably 2X. Gave up and finally bought the Lion costume from Target. Not that he wants to wear it at all (the joys of a 1 year old...)

We start with things we already have and make the rest or buy them (from a secondhand store if possible). As something they usually only wear once, I hate spending much money on the costume if we don't have to.

Girl- Hermione- bought new unused robe at Goodwill-using own gray clothing and a Harry Potter scarf-wand is from a trip to Disney
Boy-Ninja-bought outfit at costume swap-swords from Target
Boy-Crusader/Warrior helmet and cape sort of Roman thing- bought at Costco
Girl- Rapunzel-Costco
Glow in the dark sticks and clothing stickers-dollar store
reusing last years buckets and flashlights.
I am a witch this year.
Kids are dressed and ready to go since last weekend.
WE LOVE HALLOOOOOOWEEEN!

Grandma bought it at Carters

I bought the one my youngest is wearing THIS year -- 2 years ago at that after Halloween sale at K-Mart. It's a pink pinstriped "gangster" suit. We have made a few things to go with it and customize it. My daughters have always liked to play dress-up, so I have always hit the after Halloween super-mega mark down costumes for that purpose. They rarely use those costumes for actual Halloween. I usually make them a costume. I'd rather compile something from what we have than buy a pre-made.

Basically. Goodwill Industries runs a chain of thrift shops in New York and New Jersey.

No kids, so I didn't vote, but I'm working on my costume for a Halloween Party/Costume Contest.

I'm not sure it rises beyond the level of kludging or not, however.

Now if you'll excuse me... I have to see if the spray-paint is drying properly.

Goodwill stores are all over the country. Too expensive in my neck of the woods though. Think they are hoity-toity. Wal-Mart is generally cheaper.
