I grew up in the 60's and 70's. My parents were always cool. My friend's parent were mostly cool, and according to my daughter's friends we were the cool parents in their circle.
Helicopter parents, people who think their kid is infallible, and those who pretty much ignore their kids completely 99% of the time are radically uncool. At least to those who have to deal with them and their kids.
