Poll: Which fireworks displays will you be enjoying this year?
  • 17.9% - The huge one downtown in our closest city. 88

  • 16.5% - The small, but fun one in our own backyard. 81

Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

I live in Colorado. And I vote for a state-wide fireworks ban this year. I hate it, but our firefighters have enough to deal with. In fact, when I went to Wal-Mart and the firefighters were collecting donations for the fireworks, I asked if I could make a donation that would NOT be used for the display. It's just too dry this year. I'll miss them, for sure, but I'd rather not go through what the folk in Eastern Colorado are going through just for 30 minutes of pretty skies.

This year they are scary as they may set the rest of the state on fire.

My son loves fireworks, but it's going to be 97 (not counting the humidity) every day this week in Iowa, and I'm not sure that 15 minutes of fireworks are worth such stress. But if we go, it will be the downtown ones this year.

Our town sets off fireworks over our little harbor. Very little risk of fire, and very fun to watch from the boat (or a park on the water).

We went to Boston once for the 4th, but it was too crowded and stressful getting home. I like going to fireworks when I can walk home.

None of the above: Fireworks aren't all that interesting anymore.

Certainly not worth struggling with a 200,000 person crowd in 99 degree temperatures.

You forgot one option in the poll:
"Enjoying? What's enjoyable about trying to comfort a quivering terrified dog?"
I'm become somewhat of a fireworks grouch since these two dogs came into my life!

There's a fireworks ban near where we'll be. I doubt we will light any. Might set the rest of New Mexico on fire.

Our house sits on a hill overlooking the entire Las Vegas Valley... we saw 30+ shows from our balcony last year.. Popcorn, apples and a comfy chair.. Happy Independence day everyone!
