Poll: Best movie/TV style for kids?
  • 10.3% - Historical. Let ‘em learn real facts mixed in with all that fiction. 49
  • 63.3% - Imaginative. Inspire them now, they’ll change the world later. 300
  • 2.3% - Scary. Kids have to learn to be tough these days. Build up that armor! 11
  • 16.7% - Traditional. I watched it, my grandparents watched it, their grandparents watched it… 79
  • 4.2% - Cutting-Edge. It’s more important each generation finds their own voice. 20

Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Animal Planet all the way - teach them biology and compassion at the same time.

What best suits their interests - even if it is on the fringes. No point making them watch stuff that they have ABSOLUTELY no interest!

A little bit of everything? It's a good way for them to find out what they do and do not like. Or so I would think. I have no children, but that's how my parents did it with us.

I believe that sci-fi (raging the whole geekly spectrum from networks such as SyFy - aka the SciFi Channel -, BBC America, G4, etc to shows like Dr. Who, Star Trek & Eureka plus movies including Akira, Star Wars, Gattaca and even Back To The Future - and SO many more) allows kids to dream big. Being that they are our future, I think that exposing children to this type of entertainment will develop their imaginations and may even be a push to WANT to be knowledgeable in math and the sciences. For them to see things that the world hasn't been able to create yet can possibly be what drives them to make it a reality. Being that Reality TV has nothing at all to do with reality, they may be better off creating our future reality out of Science Fiction.
