A good deal if you're certain that you need a train table. I'm pretty certain you don't. All four train enthusiasts in my son's daycare class strongly prefer to play without their train tables. The tables just get in the way of creativity and limit the length of trains you can use.

If there is even the remotest chance that your kid is going to want to a train set in the next, say, YEAR... Just buy this.

It's an absolutely awesome value, the table is sturdy, the train set is ideal and the price is almost unbeatable!

I really do have far too many children.

No place to store the track set? pass! the other KidKraft Metro Train Table that Woot sold on 4/2 had a pull out draw with wheels on it that made for great storage of the track set and a whole lot of other toys. it was $30 more but the storage is a must!

Looks like you could just buy a big plastic toteof your choosing and store them underneath. Then, use it to store the legos, and then the nerf guns, for the two subsequent phases.

Anyone know if this set is interchangeable with the Thomas tracks or the Ikea train tracks? We've found the Ikea trains will fit on the Thomas tracks, but not the other way around... Trying to decide if we need a THIRD brand of trains/tracks. This appears to be a pretty sweet deal and could allow me to have some early xmas shopping done for my 3 y.o. boy! Thanks!

My son has one, but as he never really cared for trains, he uses it for everything else. He uses it for building Lego worlds or battle scenes with his plastic army men. It's pretty sturdy and gets lots of use.

I agree. KidKraft is extremely high quality and they organize the materials is such a way that even the most build-resistant person can put them together. Everything is labeled and the instructions are clear, easy to follow, and supported by pictures. As for the utility of the table, even if your child plays with the trains on the floor, having a table on which to set things up helps keep the room neat and it can be used for a wide range of activities in addition to the trains (legos, other building toys, crafts, etc.) If my son were still at an age where he played with trains, I would jump on this in no time.

I have never had any problem with the IKEA tracks and the Thomas tracks, I even have some of the Target mixed in with the Brio, KidKraft, IKEA and Thomas stuff, occasionally one track is a tighter fit, but that seems to have been a "new-ness" factor and mt 3yo rarely asks for help with his track anymore.

I like having the table set up with a track and destinations. There is plenty of room on the floor for random track setup. This is an awesome price and setup - the tall bridge with culverts is worth 1/2 this on Craigslist alone.

You should have no problem setting up and getting the Thomas trains to work on here, as well as other wooden brands.

If you have more concerns trainsgalore.com has videos of most wooden train setups to show compatability. They also have a very good customer service that will answer emails quickly. I don't work there (Wish I could get employee discounts though), but have purchased a lot from them.

I purchased the Imaginarium City Central train table for my 19mo old a couple of weeks ago. While it retails for $169.99 at Toys r Us, I was able to get it on sale for $129.99. It contains two drawers for storage of either train pieces or other random toys, and the track allows for use of the included trains or Thomas the Tank Engine trains. This particular set goes on sale multiple times throughout the year at Toys r Us. It's also 15" wider than this table, allowing for much more play room. It's great watching my boy run all around the table pulling the "choo-choos" along the track. This being said, despite the price point for this track, I'm more than happy to pay the price I did for the bigger table, 100 pieces (track/accessories), and storage space.

Thanks Tejo! I bought it and am going to try like heck to save it for Xmas for my boy... Too bad Mommy likes to play with the trains too; guess I'll have to wait!
