RC stands for Remote Control NOT Radio Control.

These things are Infrared (IR) and don't work well outside in direct sunlight. Judging from the LED's and glow in the dark I don't think you'd have as much fun in the sun anyways.

Buy THREE! If my luck is any indication, at least one will be DOA. But when they work, they are great fun in a dim room. :-)

Bought this one in a previous woot. Don't waste your time. Instead, go to Amazon and get a Syma S107. Its similarly priced, better quality, and easier to fly. I ended up doing this when I couldn't find a replacement part for a broken tail rotor blade on the Night Hunter. Wish I would have gotten the Syma from the beginning. Nearly every part is available as replacement for when (not if) you break it.

But the Syma doesn't have INSANE DISCO LIGHTS like these do! Also, one of mine was DOA, but weeks later I still haven't done any harm to the one of mine that arrived functional.

If you are new to flying, just learn in a large, uncluttered room. If you are a slow learner, practice over a king size bed, and only fly a few feet high for the first few charges. Just go up and down a few times to get the feel for it, before you try moving forward or backward. Also, adjust the trim, so the helicopter doesn't spin.

These are really the easiest remote control flying things I've ever played with, and should provide anyone with even an iota of hand-eye coordination, and a bit of care and patience with many many successful flights.

I think I'm being quoted above. I seem to recall calling them out on the meaning of R/C the last time these were on woot. ;-)

I remember first coming across one of these micro heli's (Silverlit brand) and thinking how amazing it was. As a late thirty-year-old I would have died to have something even close to this as a kid. Kids today can't really appreciate how far we have come with toy technology.

It's infrared and will only work inside, but infrared are 'radio' waves.

I did just that and 3 out of 3 were garbage. One was out of balance and vibrated violently, the other had the positive lead of the battery disconnected. And the third will not communicate with the transmitter.

I also bought three Knockoffs from Big 5 sporting good on clearance and all but one worked great. Also the remote did not have that stupid spring on the controller which i hate

These are great fun in the dark. Mine worked fine in the sun and because of this chopper I went out an bought a little better model copper. I did brake both tail propellers
though.

So does anyone know where we can buy replacement tail routers?

Not quite!

Infared is referring to them being just slightly below the lower end of visible LIGHT.

But, ALL waves are "radio" waves. Even "light" waves, are in the "radio" spectrum.

Anyway, most "radio" waves are broadcast with an "antenna," or "arial." (Not to be confused with the beautiful girl in Footloose.) Light waves are broadcast with a LED or other light emitting device. Even infared waves.

Real "rc" or Radio Control will work, regardless of the illumination. But, if it's dark outside, you MAY have an issue seeing the aircraft. (But, these do glow after dark.)

If you want a real experience flying a real remote control (RC) helicopter why don't you go buy a Blade E-Flight MSRx equivalent in size but amazingly faster and 3D, no flybar. These things are fun for a matter of a week or two until you master it. It is simply no more fun after that, if it had the iPhone app with this might be worth the purchase. You can find replacement parts for any helicopter its just a matter of searching and the parts on this one are identical to syma 107 another weak heli

I agree 100% and I was just about to post a very similar response. Avoid the frustration and buy a Blade brand. Check them out on the R/C boards. You will pay a little more, but be much happier in the end. Helicopters crash and you are going to want the parts. I bought one for a friend and he loves it. http://www.bladehelis.com/

seeing as those are over a hundred bucks and a syma is like 20-30 id much rather have a syme. most people dont care about a "real flying experience" a syma is just that for 90 percent of kids.woot shoppers. consider your audience....lol

These are junk. Bought one last time around, had a little fun trying to fly it in my house, wasn't enough room to get it under control. Finally got it outside, within 3 minutes, it was broken and unusable.

I wholeheartedly agree. The S107 is the market innovator. I have one and have yet to break it.

Not cool, not cool at all (nor fun)! It was actually a pile of crap inside of a fluorescent plastic wrapper. It took exactly .037 'no times at all' before its crap revealed itself and "hit the propeller" - Game Over ... at least they're now sold out (for the sake of my fellow wooters)!

So "not Cool!", but not expensive either, so I'll shut up and will "know better next time" ... Nonetheless - w00t w00t to woot!

Love,

Me
