My laptop is dying. I may or not be here.

It took three tries to get it to turn on and have the screen work. May be the video card, may be losing connection between the base and screen. Either way, Orc says start shopping, hmm.

dontwantaname wrote:My mom heard the best the first week.
She hated it and made the audiologist dial it back. The audiologist tried her best to get mom back to that first setting, but it bother mom to actually hear.

That is why I think Poof should go for it. The longer you aren't hearing, the more comfortable you might get with no background noise.

I read as you get older the part of the brain that deals with background noise loses the ability to filter it out.

The whole hearing aids only work a few years and insurance won't pay is bullsh;t. It is the same with eyeglasses, but they aren't anywhere as expensive.

Why should people be disabled for no reason other than price.

My Dad lost a lot of his hearing when my little sister was about 2 (so I was 4). He refused to admit that there was a problem until I brought Orc home. Then he went to the audiologists (apparently if his daughter can date a guy with hearing aids, he could wear them too). Found out his problem was surgically correctable and he had one ear done. He hated it for months! He never new the furnace made noise, or that the fiero was so loud. Now he really needs to have the other ear done. So yes, the added noise and even increased background is annoying, and can make speech tricky at first, but if you can hear I think you should go for it. Being like Orc where you have to live in your own world in most social environments is really annoying for the rest of us.

I'll pull Orc back in here for the other questions when he gets home from work.

Hi. Went out today. Glad I didn't take a shower first. I was dripping when I got home. Hot, hot, hot. Now we're getting ready for the storms.

At least one storm went through. Getting a little rain every day, which is good.

Sorry, did late lunch, put kids down for naps (which Ver3 takes a lot of convincing before he settles down and stays in bed, and took a long relaxing shower.

On the plus side my laptop screen is working still after all the problems it gave me this morning.

Possibility of more tomorrow afternoon. Unfortunately, the winds are always strong enough that there's trees down here and there. Hope to avoid that.

Just finishing up. Waiting for the bill.

Hmmmm. They're gone. Opened awning. After five minutes it closed and it's not that breezy. Watching it now. The wind sensor might be screwed up.

Mosquitoes

Day time....mosquitoes
afternoon...mosquitoes
night...mosquitoes

The county sprayed lots of towns, but not us.

I wonder who has the standing water? It isn't me. Haven't been able to go outside since the nice weather started.

Hey PWA!

Looks like a you got hit with a pretty good storm there d'name! I was looking at some pics online of the damage from the "tornado" in Elmira. We used to go over there on occasion when we lived in the area. Personally, I doubt it was an actual tornado though. The topography just isn't right in that part of the country to support tornado formation, and the damage (while impressive) isn't really consistent with tornado damage. Certainly some strong winds, but probably just that - strong wind gusts.
