The black one is great for scaring people!

Need me some Boxes Of Condoms!

I used a coin battery that I got out of a Bag of Carp to power a bristlebot like these that I built from a toothbrush head and a cell phone's vibration motor.

It's probably more fun than just buying one, but getting a Bountiful Overflowing Cornucopia is pretty tough, and getting one with coin batteries is nearly impossible.

My nephew loves these things...but his mom hates stepping on them.

My woot's better than your woot

We have both. The hexbugs seem to be better constructed.

I paid over $10 each at Radio Shack 2 years ago and learned that if you store them legs down, they curl up and die. Or at least don't go very well any more.
They are unstoppable and fun for awhile, at least until they pull the nasties out from under your fridge.

Okay, even if you don't nab one of these for the child in your life, you should get one for your inner child.

I got the similar "hexbug' for the annual "goofy gift" that I get the wife and I for Christmas just last year. We had an absolute blast with the little bugger--so to speak.

Your inner child is crying out for these! Now stop sending him to the corner for crying and let him run free!

That's a negative. Hard surfaces only. Works best on desktops and hardwood floors.

I would guess that these are a choking hazard for dogs and cats of any age. Would they find their way out of a dog's belly?

These are also known as bristle bots. The guy at work has one of these and I'm pretty sure I play with it more than he does...

Bought a 3 pack, 4 for my little cousins, and 8 for Toys For Tots.
Hopefully this inspires someone else to get more than they originally wanted to do the same...

Don't get ripped off buying Hex Bug Branded LR44 Batteries, 2 for $3.99 plus shipping for these!

Instead, go ebay instead, 60 LR44 Batteries for $2.80 including shipping from U.S.!

Or $6.79 including shipping for 50 if you prefer Amazon Sellers. (See 'More Buying Options' for free non super saver shipping').

Interesting intellectual property article about the i-insect - hexbug rip off...

http://www.ipfrontline.com/depts/article.aspx?id=24930&deptid=8

Guessing they are just as fun and functional as the hex bugs, especially for such a low price!

These are the best cat toys!

Yeah, they sued the makers of the the previously wooted "Legend of Nara Battle Bugs" who under the 'shell' did a 1:1 copy of their design. Apparently it didn't stop them, I saw Walmart restock with some Legend of Nara branded bugs this Christmas.

Not impressed by these at all. I hate to be negative, but it just seems like a glorified way to slowly run down a battery. And I feel like different variations of 'vibrate to move' toys have been out for years.

If they interacted with each other somehow that would be one thing, but otherwise these are just watered down Zhu-Zhu pets.

Fun for 10 minutes I'm sure, but you're likely to play with something else more creative and engaging.

In for 2. One for the cats (supervised, of course) and one for the gag gift extravaganza.

In for two sets. I sure hope these things fit underneath the crack between my girlfriend's bathroom door and the floor. Shh...don't tell her. Granted, that'll only work once, but they'll be good cat toys after that.

Mine are 5 and 8, and both love these things, although it's the 8yo who has been begging incessantly for them.

My super girly-usually-into-princesses-only 4 year old daughter LOVES playing with hexbugs. This set of 4 bugs is awesome because invariably the younger kids will leave these on, they will escape the track and end up under your cabinets (speaking from personal experience here). Will be getting 3 -- one for us and two for gifts. Great price for sure!

My niece just giggled playing with these last Christmas at 1 1/2 years old. Supervised of course. There were two bugs and five other kids ages 4 to 7 were not so patiently taking turns. In for three, I will check with the parents and either gift them or might be selfish and keep for cat toys.

Wow, wish you guys had had these back in August. This year's B.E.S.T. Robotics competition used the name brand hex bugs in their competition (in fact, our local regional competition is today through Saturday) and these would have been a lot cheaper to buy for our practice sessions for my son's team!

As a replacement for the "name brand" bugs, this is a great deal. Those are $19.99 for a four pack. I just picked up 12 for the same price. GREAT STOCKING STUFFERS!!!

A Hexbug Nano dimensions are 1.6875"L x 0.5625" W x 0.6875" H. So these are slightly larger than the Nano. With that said these will work with the set on on Woot today. There may be a slight problem with the gates due to the height. ( I used my son's set bought on a previous Woot to measure.) So buy three sets!! Happy Wooting !!
