I would have thought the yellow light meant it's almost time to get up.

The "girl" clock has a cat wearing a pink dress and a tiara? Seriously?

We used a different version to help keep the kid in bed when he transitioned out of the crib (just before age 2). The concept worked wonderfully for both bed time and wake up time for the first six months and works most of the time still (18 months later) for the wake up time.

Does anyone know how loud this alrm clock is? Standard alarm clocks are not loud or annoying enough to get my kids out of bed.

I'm on that same line of thought. I thought it might have been useful as a warning to slow down and clean up, it's almost time to go to bed. If you try to speed through the house on a yellow light, you get a citation. No books for you!

It's a kids alarm clock. Would you prefer they all wear unisex tshirts and khakis? It's a freaking CAT riding a SCOOTER, it's not a proclamation on gender roles. Chill out. Frankily I'm offended woot thinks cats can ride scooters. SERIOUSLY WOOT? SERIOUSLY?

My two cents: this is GREAT if you have infants to toddlers.

Regarding the yellow light. There is nothing that says you cannot manually use that for "almost bedtime". But it isn't a timed event.

The thing I like that isn't driven home in the description is that it can be set to not buzz at wake up time. Only the green light kicks on.

We bought one of these (although it has a little red car instead of a scooter figure) for our then- 2 year old son who would wake at the crack of dawn every day, even with the shades pulled down.

Just to be clear, although there is an audible alarm that can be enabled, the purpose of the traffic light is NOT to wake the child, but rather if they wake in the night (or early morning) to let them know that it's not time to get up yet.

While YMMV (every kid is different) this has worked very, very well for us over the past 2 years or so. As long as we haven't abused the "power of the light" by setting it overly late (hoping to sleep in) he almost never gets out of bed before "green".

I will say that the green light is a bit brighter than the red and will wake him out of a light sleep, so it can end up acting as an "alarm clock". But if he's particularly tired he'll sleep right through it.

The clock is well-constructed... heavier for the size than I expected. I suspect these are on woot to clear inventory of less-popular figurine designs- there are a many variations available from other sources.

I bought one of these a year or so ago when it was up on Woot last. It has pretty much saved my sanity many times with my toddler. He understood the concept at 16 months after about a day, and it has been a godsend for setting expectations at nap time and bedtime (not to mention it bought me between 30 minutes and an hour's worth more sleep in the mornings until he graduated from a crib to a toddler bed).

Also makes a great baby shower gift!

I purchased one of these a while back for my 2 year old. He stays in bed now until "Green O'Clock" I guess eventually I'll need to teach him to read the numbers on the clock, but this does well in the meantime.

I'll be getting another today for little brother.

We bought a teddy bear version of this same light years ago for $36. It has worked out very well for us. The twins love it, and they take turns being the one to turn it on during their bedtime routine. Even now after all this time if one wakes up too early we just have to ask if the traffic light is green yet and they are happy to be guided by that!

Love this alarm clock! For those who have little ones who like to get out of bed early, this is a lifesaver! We leave the sound off and just the light on for our 3 and 4 year old. Works like a charm!

It took some time to get our son used to the concept, but this stop light clock has been fantastic. He understood the concept of a stoplight well, but was too young to understand a clock, so this fills in the gap perfectly.

At first he didn't really follow the clock, but every night before bed we pointed it out and reminded him. In the morning we made a big deal about it when he stayed in his room, rewarding him for doing a good job.

For us it wasn't about him staying asleep, just staying in his room. He has toys and books in there to play with, and we still have a monitor to hear if anything happens.

This has been a great addition to our house and has helped us sleep past 5 am.

As a father of triplets, now three, let me tell you that this thing is fantastic. More than anything else we have ever gotten for our children, this clock allows us to militarize their sleeping schedule.

When we put them down for a nap we put on the yellow light. This is both reassuring for them and lets them know they're not waking up from sleep (i.e. they don't think it's morning).

When we put them down for bed red light means it's time to be quiet and go to sleep. If the red light is on when they wake up they do not get out of bed for any reason other than potty or an emergency. Otherwise they go back to sleep.

We started using the clock when they were 16 months or so (give or take, they're three now and it's tough to remember that far back). What I do know is that in about two weeks they were hooked and, like clockwork, on our schedule rather than theirs.

When we put them down to sleep we always reinforce, "It's red light, time to be quiet and get some rest." It also makes it easier to discipline for loud behavior when the light is on, "What color is the light? Should you be talking or resting?"

This clock means more restful nights for you and a predictable time table. It allows you to get up and prepare snacks or whatever else you have to do for the day and know exactly when the kid(dies) are getting up. We bought two, one for each room. One broke and we replaced it, and we've since bought two more for when they visit their grandparents.

I can't imagine life without it.

We have used a similar clock to train our 2 year old daughter. Life saver.

Ours is just a rising sun. Thankfully, no tiara.

Excellent description! I am convinced now that the Anti Wall Street protest was organized by an eloquent 5 year old and his toys.
