Seems as if I recall some people asking for this one. This is a really nice addition to any Thomas set.

Thomas junk is overpriced. I won't buy my son a train set if the damn train won't even move under its own power!

There is something to be said for toys that actually require kid power as opposed to battery power. Battery toys take the thinking out of playing.

Thomas "junk" as you put it has been time tested to inspire kids for many years vs. novelty toys that kids lose interest in within a few months.
Also, I prefer my children to utilize their imagination and creativity with the ability to readily and easily reconfigure tracks and move things under their own power. Too many toys already require battery power and inspire a more sedentary / spectator response from children instead of being an active participant.
Yes, Legos are another product that has this reputation, but why limit our childrens' choices on products that have this longevity and ability to inspire participatory creativity and enjoyment?

I think this is the non-deluxe version. If you look at the part number, it's different.

As a former nanny, there is no boy in this universe that does not like wooden trains at least at some point and quite a few girls are on the wagon as well. As a mom I'd much rather buy something that does NOT require batteries to be operated. Not to mention that very few battery operated toys keep their attention for longer than 5 minutes, unlike, say, a wooden train set.

So, my son is 6, which means:

  • He doesn't need a high chair or other baby stuff
  • He's outgrown Thomas
  • Ergo, he's too old for anything I can get from kids.woot

I was so excited when kids.woot debuted; it's been a disappointment since then.. What happened to all the RC cars, airhogs, and robots that made Woot cool in the first place?

In for 1. I personally love the Learning Curve T&F sets and am happy they continue to be offered here. I'm just bummed I missed the Railway Repair set offered earlier by a few seconds!

I agree. My son has spent the past year+ loving EVERYTHING Thomas related. He spends hours a day playing with his collection. This Cranky included.

And I have no problem with Thomas. All I ask is that they mix it up a little, and offer some things that are appropriate for kids over the age of 5.

I don't disagree that it would be nice to see more quality items for ages 5 and up, but I do like the Thomas items as well and I think it would be good to suggest specific items you'd like to see. The Thomas fans haven't been shy about suggesting specific items to help the Woot buying agents in their task.

Just an FYI...
56 items have been posted in the current Woot Off
6 items are Thomas related
4 items Melissa and Doug
4 items Best-Lock
