They can. There are options to show video / audio / text only / image only. Autoplay can be switched off and on using a parameter

Ugh, I haven't had that here yet, but I have seen it. I usually shut the page down when it happens. Not exactly good for the site to have customers leave because of the ad.

I shut down too! Popup ads that grey out the screen you are trying to go to are just as bad. Unless I NEED something, I'll go google it some where else. Haven't had the bad woot ad yet.
