Are these toys still Tonka tough? Or has Tonka taken the craftsmenship out of their toys? It has been a LONG time since I have played with Tonka, but they used to be indestructable.

I love the tonka truck series, always have. They are made to be used and abused, and they are just so cool to play with.

Tonka toys are classic and many of the older ones are collectible today.

$97.15 for the firetruck at sears

no, I don't think that is a realistic price.

Age range? Did I miss it, or is there no age range listed on this one? We're not kid people but we have an awesome nephew who is 3½ and we love spoiling the heck out of him.

Probably in for 2 if it wouldn't be significantly wrong age range for him....

[THUNDERTHIGHS: Age range is 3+. It's been added to the descriptions. Thanks!]

My nephew is the same age. I think I will get this for him too. My sister says he loves trucks at this age and has moved away from the blocks and stuffed animals already. So i think this is the prime age to get this toy and they will use it probably until the truck dies!

The pictures showed nothing to reference to. In my head I had them as 8 inches long or so. So yeah, Compared to what I had in my head. They were bigger than expected.

Twin grandsons (and our daughter is our only child) 2-1/2 years old.
Yeah, we are spoiling them rotten, but it is their inheritance we are using up. :-)

The Fire Truck's page on Amazon (as previously posted) says age 3 and up, so you're good to go.

Oh, buddy, I am so with you. My older bro is one too and I am sorry to say it, but you guys just don't have big giant work equipment that Tonka deems 'cool' enough to put in the back of an ambulance toy. I guess they think a motorized defibrillator isn't slick and glitzy. What a bunch of soulless maroons.

Looks like my son is going to be happy. He loves fire trucks and hanging at the station with me. Now we. Oth can work on the jaws together, well until he hits 18 and can lift our current set!

I bought 1!

Hey, am I gonna be able to order one of each at checkout or be told I have to make separate orders? last time I tried to go back and order 2 more of something, I found out once an order was placed, another order couldn't e made using the same account or credit card. Boy, I messed up that time, trying not to mess up this time.

My nephew will love these! He's obsessed with trucks and with tools--both in the same package? Oh, man!

kellylavelle

My son got the fire truck for his 4th birthday. He likes this truck, and I would say it is worth about what Woot is asking for it. It is not as tough as his metal Tonka trucks. It is certainly an indoor toy, as it runs on batteries and is made of plastic with stickers.

The 2 doors that close to hold the "tool" are a little flimsy and don't always meet correctly. The tool is a little challenging to get into the truck, and can only go in if the electric grabber claw is closed completely.

Because of its shortcomings, this toy became a nice part of the toy collection instead of an absolute favorite that we must take everywhere. But still not a discarded toy, it is a fire truck, after all.

The Road Crew trucks looked cooler, with the flashing lights and sounds. Can you get those next time Woot?

Which one is he "work truck" and which one is the "rescue truck?"

The one I want is the "fire truck." Why is it Woot can't simply name one of them "fire truck?"

The way the pictures are aligned with the verbal description, it seems the "fire truck" is the "work truck" which is pretty messed up since some people might expect the "fire truck" to be a "rescue truck."

Woot's probably making it ambiguous on purpose. They probably want you to buy the wrong truck. It seems carefully designed to make you pick the wrong truck.

As soon as my brother's kids (boys and a girl) could crawl they loved playing with them. I would say a good guess would be 2 to 99. My husband will still be playing with them long after the kids have moved on to something else.

As long as you keep it under three you can order both trucks. Once you have ordered that is it. Its all part of the fun Just don't change your mind after and decide you need more and all will be good

Because the red one is not a fire truck. It's a rescue truck. It has the jaws of life, an axe, a ladder. There is no hose to fight fires. And if you still aren't sure, the pictures clearly label them.

if you click on the pictures, they clearly label on the picture "work truck with jackhammer' and then the 'rescue truck'.

in for one. My son is only 16 months but LOVES trucks. I'm sure this toy will catch his attention now and well into the future.

I loved my Tonka trucks when I was a kid. I still have a few of my told trucks in the attic I'm going to pass on to my son.

I bought one of both!

Can't help myself...my TWIN sons are -7 weeks...yes you read that correctly...they are 31/32ish weeks old in the womb!

I can't help myself when I see great priced/cool stuff...I will have a stockpile of things for birthdays/etc.

The mother-in-law told me...spend it now..you will NOT want to spend it once they are born (or won't have it to spend once they are born!)

All plastic construction with metal axles?

I remember when Tonka trucks were made of steel and lasted for generations. Seriously, my nephew's kids are playing with the same Tonka trucks my brother and I played with and had originally belonged to my Grandfather.

Plastic? Phooey.

I have bought other versions of these trucks every year for the past 4 years for nephews and friends' kids, ages 3-6. They all love them. They hold up reasonably well and the sound effects are very popular. Haven't had the version with the tools, but just the truck is usually arounf $20 at Costco, at Christmas time.

The only age I see listed is "not for children under three" for the small piece issue. I assume any child over the "putting everything in their mouth" phase would love it. I am getting one for my 3 1/2 year old grandson!

So I'm assuming the hero in the write-up is an actual comic book hero. I'm not all that familiar with them so who is it?

Oh, and in for two.

In for two (one of each). Our just turned 3 only grandson is all boy and love these types of cars/trucks. When ever we get the chance to pick up a great deal for him on WOOT we not only get to continue buy his love and affection but since we live in a different state we get WOOT to deliver it for us. What a sweet deal.
