It can be. I won one of these things at a fair playing ring toss (I'm pro at that game).

Be sure not to only press one brake at a time while travelling fast, unless you want to wipe out. Otherwise, these are pretty fun and offer a good amout of exercise.

This is meant for two kids to ride, right?

Thats how my brothers and I handled something like this. Very dangerous, don't try it without a helmet.

Edit: Very dumb/dangerous, but Very fun. double the horsepower baby.

Since the color is different, I'm not entirely sure if this is the same model with 10 mixed reviews:

This kid looks incredibly awkward, not a huge selling point.

think I may be in for 2 for my twins 6th birthday. I think they would love them, and it is something different than all the usual...

Yeah, I've been wanting one of these, and I'm an oldie (but goodie). I researched them a bit a couple years ago when an ad showed up on something I was looking at. The adult-sized ones can get pretty pricey, I'm remembering that they're sized by body weight. I also want the similar thing, think it's a different brand, with a ski on the bottom for winter. Gotta keep moving or I'll turn to stone. It's likely our enthusiasm will be noted by data mining, er, a bit of monitoring by our beloved Woot, and, next thing you know....

lol

this kid in the picture looks like he is about to fall over and cry

wow, can you imagine the time and work to get that picture

what advertiser in their right mind, after the photographer took like hundreds of pictures, would then choose this picture?

insanity

at 19.99 i would but this, but for 70 bucks

hell no

Question about the design: when you lift up one leg to push off from the ground to propel it, is it difficult to balance your weight all the way on the other side? does it ever tip over just because you are lifting your leg and bending the other?

the picture makes it look like the proportions are wrong (handlebars, etc) to easily control it.

This looks dangerous, like it would tip as soon as you lifted your foot to scoot. It also looks uncomfortable and dorky.

Thanks, wasn't fun but sentiment appreciated.
Real quick, a lot of woot products are closeouts (from woot's frontpage):

I have three adult versions of these. They're actually fairly safe. With the smaller versions, you have to be careful of sticks and rocks -- if you hit one with the front tire, the Trikke can flip. But the larger versions don't have that problem. The Trikke is a blast to ride and is really good exercise (especially going uphill).

I have a Trikke made for an adult (T8) and I got two much older versions for my nephews (T75s I believe). These are incredibly safe and take a lot of practice to learn. To be honest I would feel more comfortable with my kids riding one of these over a bike or roller blades any day. You can either go fast (18 MPH) or really work on your carving and get a great thigh work out. Yes, I know this particular product is meant for the kids and they don't care about a work out. It's incredibly hard to flip on of these things unless you are blazing fast and hit a rock or a branch. Although with the polyurethane wheels I would suggest staying off wet ground too. Parents, get this for your kid and look into one for yourself if you enjoy bike riding or going around outside with your kid, you'll have just as much of a blast!

I have a window of time, so hope this helps:

The two awards the company advertises are from about 7-8 years ago:

I used to have a Trikke, it's great fun as long as gravity is on your side, but as soon as you have even the slightest of inclines, it gets to be much less fun and a whole lot of hard work. Unless your child is a jock or seriously into fitness, this is a waste of money.

My son has a different version of this and all of the worries about tipping when lifting one foot off the ground are unnecessary.

He doesn't use his foot to scoot off at all. He gets himself on the scooter and then begins to wiggle his torso to make it move. It's not propelled by foot action at all during any part of the ride. I would assume this one works the same way.
