Birthday Invite for Ver2 is done. She definitely has a tighter group of friends than her sister, it'll be nice to not be having a mega party, she couldn't even think of 10 kids to invite. Oh so very different than her sister! - and in case you can't tell I'm very happy about this, I think it will be a lot more fun with less kids! In contrast Ver1 tried to have a small party and still ended up inviting over a dozen kids because they really are all her closest friends.

Yeah, at the last minute she changed the theme from Star Trek to Ariel. Luckily we bought an entire party set of Ariel stuff at the Fall Carnival at her sister's school so if I can find that life will be good. I'm having a hard time believing that she is going to be 5 in two weeks.

Her last two birthdays were Princess. It's her choice. She has to decide for herself what her interests are, I just do my best to block as much marketing and gender bias as I can, so she can make that decision.

On a side note, I'm getting quite good at castle cakes.

Cataract surgery on f--i-l did not go well. First surgeon ran into trouble so the doctor had enough sense to stop when she realized she was in over her head. We had to take him to Dallas in a hurry to see a retina specialist who completed the removal. Dr. said it was the worst he'd seen in his 20 years. He'll now will have to wait for his eye to heal before the new lense can be inserted. 12 hours and 2 surgeries later he's home sans cataract AND lense.

Whoa. That's scary. Hopefully the new doc will see things through to a good outcome.

We got to Dallas by 11:30, second surgery started @ 4:30 and finished @ 6:30. He probably go to Dr. 1 for the lense once Dr.2 gives the o.k. I have to take him to Dr.2 tomorrow for a follow up. Probably 3 weeks before the new lense if f-i-l will agree to try again.

Oh, wow, I am sooo very sorry. I have not heard of anyone having that experience. I guess the poor guy will catch a problem if it is possible to do so. Please give him an extra hug from me. Do you think the first doc was incompetent?

Thanks, will do.
I think she was competent she is just not set up for complications of that magnitude. To her credit she stopped when she realized it was going badly. I really think some may have tried to soldier on and ended up making a bad situation worse.

In other news it looks like we're in for a good storm if the thunderstorms to our west hold together for 50 miles or so.

Talk to the nurse of Doc2 as you're checking in and have him talk to FIL about what caused the complication. Ask him to explain to FIL why he should go ahead with the lense.

Morning, And happy Friday.

Ice, sorry to hear the surgery didn't go well, but at least it wasn't a total shock. Hope he recovers well and can get the lense attached quickly.

Good morning everybody! Soaky to the bones rain out this morning. A bit gloomy but SO MUCH to do today.

I'm hoping I'll be awake for the nearby theater's showing of Serenity tonight at midnight but right now it is looking a bit 50/50.

I'm just hanging out, really.

Can't, gotta jam to Best Buy, replace my headphones, come home, help interview/screen a candidate for GeekGirlCon, dinner and playtime with the kitty.

Somehow I'll make this all work.

Also if anyone's curious what my cube looks like at work I made fuzzy iphone pictures. Some day I will clean up long enough to get pictures of my home office which is so much snazzier.

I'm just hanging out, really.

According to this, which is old, it says the guys are pushing 50, well anyone in high school in 1971 is pushing 60.
It was code for a group of kids who wanted to talk about getting stoned in front of their parents.

We never heard it. But before MTV and TV that actually talked about current things, information moved slow.

I don't get why I am expected to know all these code words. Do you think if they legalize it everyone will settle on one name and I won't have to spend half an hour trying to figure out what in tarnation they are talking about?

Still single, can't imagine why.
