Yay team me! (maybe)
The person who has blocked me going to special trainining in upstate NY 4X in the last 6 years has now come up with this great idea that I need to go and take this training in upstate NY.
I'll know in a week.
I'm his chosen one to replace him in August when he retires and he wants to help his nephew who would in all probability be working under me.

The stupid thing is, before the economy tanked, most jobs here were $10 an hour.
Both kids got retail jobs with no experience at $10 an hour back then.

It seems it still isn't minimum wage, which is only 7 something in ny, but all the entry jobs seem to be in the 8's now.

Son liked bussing better than cash register. The same customer that gives you a hard time ordering or picking up their food, is nice if you take away their dirty plates.
Unfortunately for son, here the bus boy jobs are done by people who don't speak english well enough to take the orders.


He just got a call from the bank to interview with a branch.
Of course, since it is hubbies bank, he would have to be awful to not get the job.

We won't talk about what minimum wage is here, there is no additional minimum here. Good luck to son. I have yet to meet a food service job that paid well. The buffet workers here only make 2.50 to 4 an hour depending on their experience, because they are supposed to get tips. When I learned that I started tipping them better.

Yes we will! I'm not 100% sure where the location is, but it looks like it's really easy to find and there are lots of things to do nearby. I'm trying to bring a bigger group over this year, we'll see.

Gatz - I'm jealous, the only reason to move back to my hometown would be the skiing. I've been once in the 10 years since I moved away.

I was in Seattle from Oct 31 to Nov 8. It was really beautiful and I was very surprised. Leaves had just turned color which was gorgeous against the evergreens, clear blue sky, sparkling water in sunlight, warm evenings - daughter told me it poured the day after I left and all the foliage came down, and it really did settle in for a long, usual Seattlish spell. I wished I liked the climate better because I would probably spend a half a year there.

We aren't prohibitively far from Seattle, we actually made two trips last year and are planning to go again in August (like I told Inky). Although, without a reason none of us had gone in the previous 8 years.

If they post their book early I think you can get notified about it by adding it to your wishlist (they do that for video games). I'm not sure if there is a way to be notified if an author adds a new book though. I might go look, that sounds useful!
