Newer people, many years ago , there was a huge discussion (fight) about how to spell gray/grey.

As a NY Italian, which is as close as you can come to being a NY Jew,without being Jewish, I can tell you this. That is NOT a bagel! Other then the shape, there is nothing bagel about it.

It is a tasty pastry, that I have ordered.



It seems son's favorite manager was moved to a different Panera . That is the end of free food at closing. Plus the new manager enforces the $8 limit on the 60% off before and after your shift. No more pick two.
Although I don't know why they just don't take $4.80 off of what ever he orders over $8.

So, son is back to eating at Subway.

Although, I haven't had anything that resembles a true bagel in 30 or more years.
Bagels were hard and dense and chewy. People gave them to teething babies.
Even from a Jewish deli, they are nothing like that anymore.

I won't even get into the water issue.

Water from different water districts make dough taste different. So things like bagels and pizza can taste totally different at different locations.
But now the doughs are often shipped uncooked and frozen. No more making your own.

This is the sort of stuff my parents generation would sit around and talk about for hours. As they ate bagels . Not so much pizza. That is harder to eat in the dark, at night, sitting on a porch with the other neighbors.

Because the houses were so close together, all the kids were put to bed and the parents would open the window. Then the all went to sit on someone's porch. If we needed them, we would scream out the window.
I'm not sure about the kids further down the block and across the street.
I guess that is another one of those "it happened all the time when we were kids, and now you can be arrested for doing it"
Like sending kids to the town pool (not the city, we didn't have one) by themselves all day. From about age 6 or 7. Now if there is a 10 year old kid at the pool without a adult, the cops are called!

OK, got to walk Rusty before the doctor.

Gotta tell the doctor he got overruled by my internist. Plus Rusty's best friend's mother, who is also an internist.

Arthritis Doctor had me on a really small dose of steroids every day.
Started with 10 mg, then 5mg, then 2.5 a day. Then he said I could go every other day with the 2.5mg.
But the other doctors said, no oral steroids. They can damage the kidney and liver.

Injected steroids are OK.

I knew that they did damage. But, damn, NOTHING hurt. Not back or neck or hand. Mystery pain was gone! I'm now guessing that is a pinched nerve in the neck, which has arthritis.

I'm hoarding the pills for the winter , when the hand stops working.
This is more a mobility issue than a pain one.
